I am always somewhat amused and puzzled when I read things like, Fatah-Hamas Deal Complicates U.S. Aid to Palestinians :
The agreement, reached after secret talks brokered by Egypt, caught the Obama administration, like many others, by surprise. At a minimum it complicates the administration’s faltering hopes to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. It also casts doubt on American efforts in recent years to build up the Palestinian Authority on the West Bank, led by Fatah, as the legitimate leader of the Palestinians. It's amusing that the one even would think this is possible....

If I weren't so lazy, I would compile a list of links to these media-enhanced fantasies that appear constantly. "What is the US to do about the latest regime threat in the Sharq Republic"; "Secretary Clinton's statement reflects US displeasure about President X's crackdown" etc. etc. like who really takes it seriously over yonder, as if it rally matters much in the play by play?
Now we decide who is legitimate among the Palestinians? Because, well, I guess we have such credibility there.

you know how some people always worry that everyone is whispering about them behind their backs - and yet, the real existential fear is that other people simply don't care about them, consider them irrelevant or mention them only to bring up how annoying their egocentrism is? kind of like that.
the only thing worse than having your flag burnt by people calling you 'the Great Satan' is being ignored... secretary Clinton being snubbed by the #Jan25 youth groups of Tahrir comes to mind
