French recog of Benghazi Nat Council as legit gov
France gets out ahead, and recognises the National Council as the legit Gov: Libya uprising - live updates | World news | guardian.co.uk
10.12am: France has just become the first major European power to recognise the Libyan national council in Benghazi as the legitimate representative of Libyan people.
France is to open an embassy in Benghazi and will allow the Libyan embassy in Paris to reopen.
This will be welcomed by the Libyan council, which has been pushing for such recognition.
This is riskier than it looks as it is not by far a sure thing this council will come out on top, either internally to the rebels (although if they prevail, more likely) or vis-a-vis The Guide.

You know, if you worked for the USG Lindsey Graham, R-SC, would want you fired for that last remark vis-a-vis The Guide, 'cause, you know, it'd prove you're clueless.

Hmmm... Why? This goes over my head, I confess.

No idea. Flashed by on the BBC twitter feed, which had a link to a short item from Fox where Obama's intelligence adviser had said in a hearing that he thought Gaddafi would probably prevail. Apparently this made Graham go ballistic and say he should be fired for saying such a thing.
I guess saying something like that is being taken to mean he wants Gaddafi to win. I'm sure that's the political spin. I guess I'll see on the news later.

Reading up I see that it appears he angered the fellow (Senator, Rep? I forget) by committing the sin of stating uncomfortable analysis in public, notably that Qadhdhafi now may be on the route to victory over the rebels.
Analysis may be wrong, but it seems well-founded. Graham should be thanking him for the wake up call.
