Sleazy Self-Promotion and the Lara Logan Incident

Although not directly spotlighting this issue, the apparent "wilding" attack on journalist Lara Logan amidst the Tahrir Square celebrations brings to mind my own thematically related essay from a few years back, which I sleazily and opportunistically link here.

Of course, in the Logan incident, the army of Egypt, having acted as rescuers of Ms. Logan, heroically outperformed some US military activity in the same subject area. And of course, the oppressed class, such as a broad swath of Egyptian women has its own sucky mentality, in addition to that of the marauding male criminals. (Face it: someone had to raise those punks.)

CAIRO {Oct.12,2010} — An Egyptian real estate tycoon falls in love with a Lebanese pop star. After three to four years, she decides to leave him. He pays another man $2 million to kill her. She is found dead, with her throat slit. He is found guilty of inciting and ordering the murder.

And what do women here have to say about the homicide victim? Mostly, that she deserved it.

The story of Hisham Talaat Moustafa and Suzanne Tamim has engrossed men and women of all ages in the Arab world for more than two years now. . .
