Can Iran Firmly Sustain An Election? Links and Stuff

Some numbers crunching here and analysis with gossip here. Word of mouthy reports of human rights leaders being arrested here. A danger of hanging chadors. Links and or leads to them, courtesy of Aqoulite Eva Luna who is too engaged to otherwise post.

So then if Iran's election lasts for more than four hours, it may be the last one they ever have?

Oh come ON. I certainly acknowlege the U.S. is far from having clean hands historically re: Iran, and I am often quick to criticize U.S. policy. But are you in all seriousness saying that anytime the U.S. and a foreign opposition movement share goals, that necessarily means the U.S. is secretly trying to overthrow the government in question?

That's ludicrous.

Any further thoughts on this rather damning bit of news re: possible ballot box stuffing?

(Someone on another message board I frequent was suggesting that perhaps there are rather more Iranian-Chicagoans than previously thought. :-) )
