New Month, Open Commentary

Sadly our ancient tradition, my own, was forgotten..... worse, I personally forgot this is a new month. Thankfully there are long suffering readers who are gullible enough to stick with us.... My apologies then, until I read comments I had actually not noticed we are in March.

Maybe for this month you should expand on the Holocaust comment which the Israeli deputy defence minister recently made about Gaza, and the latest Israeli atrocities there. Those guys, having got their state (ie entity) on the destruction of a Palestinian one in 1948 have no compunction, indeed boasting, about the fact that there will definitly be a Holocaust on Gaza which Israel will carry out supposedly for its own security. Isn't it a shame to use such a word by an Israeli, since it is Jews who were previously the subject of such Nazi atrocities. Does that mean as well, they are, actually one military general who blasted out the Holocaust,a cross representation of many Israelis, and are not affraid of using the term in front of the international community to down-tread the Palestinians, and are not interested in peace because if they were they would ccertainly make meaningful gestures rather than foot-drag and fire-power on civilians and become embroiled in semantic lessons that actually speaks abound of their fascistic nature in democractic drabs.

I think you already expanded it.

Because there is no lack of I&P gnashing and moaning, and I long ago tired of chasing such things. Rather like Iraq.

Like clockwork: MEMRI picks up and positively portrays Wafa Sultan's descent into undiluted hate-speech on al-Jazira. And the channel, in its turn, apologizes to viewers for allowing the defamation of Islam... West-East dialogue never had a prouder moment.

This may amuse - a Gulf update of the old joke about cows and economic systems:

DUBAI SYSTEM
You have two cows. You create a website for them and advertise in all magazines and Cable TV. You create a Cow City or Milk Town. You sell off their milk before the cows are milked, to both legit and shady investors, who hope to resell the non-existent milk for a 100% profit in two month time. You bring Bill Clinton and Tiger Woods to milk the cows to attract attention.

QATAR SYSTEM:
You have two cows. They've been sitting there for decades and no one realizes that cows can produce milk. You see what Dubai is doing; you go crazy and start milking the heck out of the cows, in the shortest time possible. Then you realize no one wanted the milk in the first place.

SAUDI SYSTEM:
Since milking the cow involves nipples, the gov't decides to ban all cows in public. The only method to milk a cow is to have the cow at one side of the curtain and the guy milking the cow on the other side; or to hire females and train them to milk the cows ... the debate is still going on.

BAHRAIN SYSTEM:
You have two cows. Some high gov't official steals one, milks it, sells the milk and pockets the profit. The gov't tells you there is just one cow and not enough milk for the people. The people riot and scream death to the govt and carry Iranian flags. The Parliament, after thinking for 11 months, decide to employ ten Bahrainis to milk the remaining cow at the same time to cut back on unemployment.

LEBANON SYSTEM:
You have two cows. One is owned by Syria, the other by the Lebanese gov't, both are milked by Syrian Laborers during their free time as informers.

EGYPT SYSTEM:
You have two cows. Both vote for Mubarak!

That Bahrain system is spot on

Precious, from Wafa Sultan in the link above:

"The Muslim is an irrational creature ruled by instincts. Those teachings have deprived him of his mind, incited his emotions, and reduced him to the level of an inferior creature that cannot control himself or react to events rationally."

Good Lord.

not too shocking to muslims, matthew, who knew that she lied about her Damascus experience and had already adjusted to her 'apostate-of-the-week' or 'neo-con-pet' status and didn't expect much better from her.

as for something else curious, didn't a whole bunch of comments get deleted, accidentally or otherwise?

Posted by: dawud at March 21, 2008 01:31 PM

Ah.... re deletion of comments. I dunno. Not deliberately to be sure. What seems to be missing?

Posted by: The Lounsbury at March 21, 2008 07:18 PM

perhaps I was mistaken - there were two new diaries on the front page, both with 0 comments, and I thought there had been before. That, and I had added one to MatthewH's comment, but it hadn't appeared... my mistake.

I presume everyone is busy or can't commit to writing commentary on the matters I read about, but can't articulate an opinion (or don't have one as articulate as those I read). Good news to hear people are busy, too bad for news addicts (or blurkers) like myself. Ahwell, to AbuAardvark I go...
