Real Fascism Awareness Week: DC-area Holocaust Commemoration
Sunday October 28 from 6 to 8 pm in Sterling, Virginia, near Washington DC, a rather nice event for those interested and local. The All Dulles Area Muslim Society is organizing a presentation featuring a Holocaust survivor, called, perhaps unsurprisingly: Reflections on The Holocaust: A Story of a Holocaust Survivor, and designed for "all of Humanity to Remember and Learn the Lessons of the Holocaust." A friend of mine was pointing out earlier this week to me that one good response strategy would be to show side-by-side Nazi propaganda challenging the loyalty of German Jews to what we see today challenging the loyalty of Muslims in America. I thought that would be good, but I am not familiar enough with Nazi propaganda to pull up the records...

This islamo-fascism thing is interesting. It was indeed launched by the francophone Algerian "éradicateurs" at the beginning of the 90's (the names of Saïd Saadi and Khalida Messaoudi cometo my mind), and caught on quite well after Sep. 11. I wonder whether the welcome extended by some journalists, politicians and bloggers to that notion would apply to the notion of "judeo-nazism" coined by the late Yeshayahou Leibowitz when speaking about settlers and their supporters. Come to think of it, I don't think so.
