Sharon, bloody well could have gone on a fucking diet. No, now the ego maniac has fucked everything up.

You know, someone actually called me to say he'd had a cerebral hemorrhage.
And I had such high hopes for that bloody centrist party of his.
Stupid fat bastard indeed.

dear l & e,
care to elaborate what you both mean with sharon "has fucked everything up" & "I had such high hopes for that bloody centrist party of his"?
i have an inkling of what i think you might mean, but i really don't want that to be right.
hence the request.

am i right in assuming his deputy who has now taken power is competely spineless and uncharismatic?

Well, I was hoping that his new party would be able to secure a majority in the Knesset, thereby allowing it to do productive things like move beyond the untenable status quo re: Palestinian territories without having to make shortsighted deals with extremist right-wing parties that inevitably have more sway than they should in coalition governments.
In a nutshell.

Only Sharon can go to Ramallah.
Everything is fucked up indeed.
The centrist Rubicon has already been crossed by too many prominent people, however. I don't see them just slinking back to their parties. Olmert becomes acting Prime Minister but I don't see him taking over the movement. In many ways, Barak would have been an ideal candidate but he just doesn't have the political juice these days. Anyway, AFAIK, he didn't move to Kadima.
I predict that the March election is going to result in complete parlimentary gridlock and there'll be another election within a year, maybe within six months.

I'm just here to say that the opening post was perfect. Completely unexpected, and right on the money.

Narcotics. I eat narcotics like candy now. Of course I am also in constant pain and feel like garbage. It's perfect for my posting style.
Pity I don't have Sam Stone to abuse right now. I would get real pleasure out of that.

Well, if it's any comfort at all, he remains his usual completely clueless self, for the most part. He reminds me of this girl I knew ages ago, who used to attract men like flies when they first met her (including my brother-in-law, who met her at my wedding, but quickly distanced himself), but who could never hold on to any of them, because they quickly found out that behind her attractive figure lurked a personality that one of my other friends described perfectly: it's like she was born not knowing something that the rest of us knew without having to be told.
A tragic case, really. Sam is more like the farce, though.

Sharon's motto was ALWAYS ESCALATE. Perhaps he should have taken the stairs occasionally...
