Perhaps part of the reason Arab men are allegedly doing their wives all the time is that their wives have little else to do as well. The poor "Westernized" ones having sex twice a week might have equally "Westernized" wives who aren't all that interested in being the man's 24/7 tilled field, as it were.

And of course his Arab patients, who spend all their time discussing sexual exploits with friends, would certainly never exaggerate details with a physician.

As to the barbering, old tradition. One of my many MENA references - I forget which one, might be a Lewis one - on the Crusades and Euro-MENA encounters recounts the highly amusing anectdote (recounted in I believe an Arab Xian chronicle) of a "Frankish" knight who got himself properly barbered according to Eastern tradition and was so taken with the effect he brought his wife back for the same treatment, much to the horror of the locals (in the are of modern Leb land).

I for one rapidly learned from my MENA experiences to blend, and read this with great amusement. When in Rome, as the saying goes.
