Complete utter nonsense: "Offended by Cartoons" Muslim Pinheads Boycott the Danes

It is hard to know how to categorise this idiocy, however this arty at least gives some fuel Protests Grow Over Danish Cartoon of Muhammad, sadly for those who like to portray Muslims as fanatic cretins, as in fact there are a fine bunch of fanatic cretins to make the case.

The essential start point is a cretinous Danish paper ran months and months ago a rather idiotic competition to portray the Prophet Mohammed, and as I recall, a goodly percentage of entries were offensive nasty little Arab / Istlamic stereotypes. Frankly one got the sense of an undercurrent of bigotry in the entries.

But whatever, cartoons in a stupid Danish paper. Nothing to get one's underwear in a real not over. Danish Muslims protested and that should have been the end of it. But no, the International Ever Seeking Offence to Blow Up Issues for Exploitation Islamist Cretins Faction has gotten hold of this.

And here is what we get:

BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) -- From the burning of its flag to a boycott of its brands of butter and cookies, Denmark is feeling Islamic outrage over newspaper cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

Well, feeling the outrage of the perpetually offended activist cretins.

Angered by the drawings, masked Palestinian gunmen briefly took over a European Union office in Gaza on Monday. Islamists in Bahrain urged street demonstrations, while Syria called for the offenders to be punished. A Saudi company paid thousands of dollars for an ad thanking a business that snubbed Danish products.

And so the ancient art of demogogeury and fanning the passions of the drooling idiot masses continues.

The anger is reminiscent of the 1989 wrath that followed publication of ''The Satanic Verses,'' the Salman Rushdie novel that radicals said insulted Islam. Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a death sentence against the British writer.

Cartoons. Not even particularly good cartoons.

The cartoons originally were published nearly four months ago in Denmark and reprinted Jan. 10 by the Norwegian evangelical newspaper Magazinet in the name of defending free expression.

The original Danish paper was secular, as I recall. Stupid and childish, but secular. The evangelical paper was clearly stirring the pot.

The spasm of vilification in newspapers and mosque sermons, by governments, citizens and radicals appears to have spoken to pent up Muslim anger typically reserved for former colonial powers Britain and France, as well as the United States.

Radical activists deliberately spinning, telling lies to create an incident they can exploit.

''This will be used by regimes who resent Western pressures to reform to say that the West is waging a war against Muslims and doesn't have their best interests at heart,'' Sulaiman al-Hattlan, a Dubai-based Saudi writer, told The Associated Press.

In other words the radical activist cretins among the Islamist circles, the Saudis ever careful to cultivate the cretins, and their hangers on and other spineless idiots

. The Danish paper Jyllands-Posten first published the 12 cartoons Sept. 30. The drawings included one showing Muhammad wearing a turban shaped as a bomb with a lit fuse. Another portrayed him with a bushy gray beard and holding a sword, his eyes covered by a black rectangle. A third pictured a middle-aged prophet standing in the desert with a walking stick, in front of a donkey and a sunset.

Islamic tradition bars any depiction of the prophet, favorable or otherwise.

Which is not the problem of a non-Muslim publication in a non-Muslim country. However stupid the cartoons were.

Saudi Arabia recalled its ambassador to Denmark and initiated a boycott of Danish goods. It was warned Monday by Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson that the European Union would take WTO action if the boycott persisted.

Ah the good old corrupt Saudis, always ready to play to the most foul depths of religious osscurantism to draw attention away from their own corrupt selves.

The newspaper issued an apology Monday to the world's Muslims.

Should have issued an apologiy to good taste, but whatever.

The cartoons ''were not in violation of Danish law but have undoubtedly offended many Muslims, which we would like to apologize for,'' the Jyllands-Posten's editor-in-chief Carsten Juste said in a statement posted on the newspaper's Web site.

On Sunday, the newspaper printed a statement in Arabic addressed to Saudis, who had initiated the boycott. It said the drawings were published as part of a Danish dialogue about freedom of expression but were misinterpreted ''as if it were a campaign against Muslims in Denmark and in the Islamic world.''

It was a dumb ass contribution and a dumb ass competition made by self-indulgent immature arsty twits, hardly something to boycott a whole nation over (not that one expects the boycott to have any real effect).

Few were swayed by the explanation.

Of course, because the only people who will really care about some obscure little idiotic Danish newspaper's idiotic contribution to "dialogue" (via poorly done and frankly many bigotted cartoons) are the pre-offended looking for ways to stir up outrage and promote their own obscurantist agenda.

''In (the West) it is considered freedom of speech if they insult Islam and Muslims,'' Mohammed al-Shaibani, a columnist, wrote in Kuwait's Al-Qabas daily Monday. ''But such freedom becomes racism and a breach of human rights and anti-Semitism if Arabs and Muslims criticize their religion and religious laws.''

So says a semi-literate idiot used to blithering on about Israel (as well as a self-deluded idiot if he thinks anyone in the Xian world would give a flying fuck what he says about Xianity or 'religious laws' - navel gazing semi-literate idiot of a cretin).

Emirates Justice and Islamic Affairs Minister Mohammed Al Dhaheri called it ''cultural terrorism, not freedom of expression,'' according to the official WAM news agency. ''The repercussions of such irresponsible acts will have adverse impact on international relations.''

And another whinging over the top idiot of a cretin. Cultural terrorism?

Cultural terrorism is this idiot making his own co-religionist look like whinging idiots lacking even the most elementary self-confidence in their religion or themselves.

In Tunisia, the head of the Islamic world's counterpart to UNESCO called the drawings ''a form of racism and discrimination that one must counter by all available means.''

Preferably by shutting up and stopping from making yourselves look like over-emotional, intellectually crippled cretins.

''It's regrettable to state today, as we are calling for dialogue, that other parties feed animosity and hate and attack sacred symbols of Muslims and of their prophet,'' said Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, president of the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture,
Oh poor us.
Jordan's largest circulation daily, government-run Al-Rai, said the Danish government must apologize.

Evidently the editors of ar-Rai (whose greatest editorial decision each day is figuring out which picture of their tubby little king they need to feature on the upper right headliner discussing whatever great and interesting deeds the King has done in the prior 24 hours) seem to be under the impression their impoverished state of expression is the normal one, bootlicking Hashemite slave scum that they are.

In two West Bank towns Sunday, Palestinians burned Danish flags and demanded an apology. Several Islamist groups, including the Palestinian militant Hamas party and Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, called for a worldwide boycott of Danish products.

Blah blah. Not as if impoverished Palestinians are sucking down Danish cheeses and beer anyway.

The same call in several Persian Gulf countries has resulted in supermarkets clearing shelves of Danish cream cheese, butter and cookies. Kuwait's Al-Jahra Cooperative Society said in an ad in the Al-Rai Al-Aam daily that all Danish products have been removed from its shelves.

Idiots.

In Saudi Arabia, the daily Al-Watan refused to publish an ad from Denmark-based dairy group Arla Foods, which has said the boycott of its products was almost total.

And yet more evidence that a certain generation of Arab journalists are intellectual cripples and cretins.

Luai Mutabakani, senior editor at the paper, told the AP the full-page ad, titled ''The Danish government respects Islam,'' did not carry any apology or reprimand the paper.

Nor should it.

In Iraq, thousands denounced the caricatures during Friday prayers.

What an excellent use of Friday prayers. Obviously the disrespect of some Danish cheese merchants are the most burning question for your worshippers. Not, say, the looming civil war or their coreligionists blowing up other factions of the same.

No, some silly drawings (which I grant were offensive, but they're bloody little cartoons with some stupid little Danish paper) done thousands of miles away, and months ago, are obviously of graver danger

The Egyptian parliament's Economic Committee refused to discuss a $72.49 million loan from Denmark to Egypt.

Good the Danes should withdraw the loan.

President Emile Lahoud of Lebanon condemned the cartoon, saying his country ''cannot accept any insult to any religion.''

eh.

Danish government officials expressed regret for the furor caused by the drawings but refused to become involved, citing freedom of expression. Mindful of the outrage, the government advised its citizens to ''show extra vigilance'' in the region.

Good for the Danes.

Swedish Foreign Ministry spokesman Claes Jernaeus warned against travel to Gaza and the West Bank.

Sadly the cretinous mutaslimine who react to this sort of idiocy are also likely to be so profoundly ignorant of geography as to be unable to distingish between countries.

Just a reminder then, that incompetent howling idiotic emotionally disturbed cretins are distributed across the globe. Sadly, the Arabs seem to produce an excess of them. The US, one might add, with boycotts of Freedom Fries and the like of course seems to be a contender as well.

While I'm really not sure it was worthwhile reprinting those cartoons. (Why cause gratuitous offence? Sunny at Pickled Politics seems to feel the same way.) Stephen Pollard makes a fair point about the tone of the BBC's coverage. I was [Read More]

You know, Meph was having a conniption over this very topic on the weekend. Complications associated with posting though.

It may not be all talk (pdf). Some people might die over this stupidity.

Ahh you beat me to it, well said. Will go connip elsewhere...

Looks like the Danish paper got exactly what it wanted, if with a delay. It aimed to piss off people who would vastly overreact, thereby bringing publicity and adversaries who look like fanatic idiots (because they are). When you have adversaries like that, it's not difficult to look good.

You have the vast overreaction, you have the fanatic idiots. VoilĂ .

Who will suffer worst from all this reactionary shit?

European muslims. Particularly those in Denmark and Norway.

If they faced xenophobia and discrimination before, by god they'll suffer now, innocent as they are.

In Lebanon, anyway, the stupid obsession with insult is a multi-religious enterprise - I think this is the only country to have banned the Da Vinci Code (because the pope doesn't like it, not because it's an insult to good taste and makes one feel perceptibly stupider for having read it.)

I just blew up at a relative (brother in law) about how idiotic the whole thing is yesterday. He had brought up the issue as "look how bigoted the West is" and was completely unprepared for my view. He was a bit taken aback but ultimately agreed with my point that boycotting Danish cheese companies over a completely unerlated to them Danish newspaper that ran some cartoons is idiotic and retarded. I ranted on about how stupid Saudi Arabia is (as its stupid organizations like WAMY are at the forefront of this idiotic dramatic outrage) until he was visibly uncomfortable. Oh well.

Navel gazing. Well, a fine human trait, self pitying self indulgent points of view.

I should make a post on race and the like, been picking on France too much.

And Tom, where the bloody fuck have you been you lazy pseudo Lebanese whanker?

Posted by: The Lounsbury at February 1, 2006 03:08 AM

Heh. My Danish relatives would probably chalk it all up to wierdos from Jylland.

Seems like the smaller the country, the more specific regionalism gets.

when it comes to free speech, in an ideal world, discretion should be excercised, particularly when the impact of publications can by such that it causes disunity within society.

although the cartoons are offensive to us, it is wrong to react with the current wave of aggressive and violent protest.

whilst peaceful boycotts, demonstrations and voicing opinions is acceptable, angy and violent protests are not. These protesters are angry towards political and democratic institutions for not condemning the cartoons, but then protest to these very same places for action to be taken.

the dissappointing fact that the worldwide community of Muslims only unite when issues that cause disunity with the west arise, and then disband thereafter.

As much as I disagree with the publication of these cartoons I can only recall that Arab Newspapers are full of "very funny" cartoons portraying "others" at its worst. Insulting the infidels is obviously very entertaining in certain parts of this world. I would suggest to those deeply insulted individuals not to buy the Jylland Post, avoid Plumrose Bacon and when considering migration or looking for asylum in another country to avoid any country that might have freedom of speech and expression stipulated in their constitution.
